The BMCC Criminal Justice Department prepares you to critically examine justice, equity and the complex systems shaping our society. Criminal Justice is one of the College’s largest and most dynamic academic programs, offering you a strong academic foundation and the opportunity to explore real-world issues through coursework, events and engagement with professionals in the field.

The Criminal Justice Program offers more than just classroom learning. You will build a strong foundation in the liberal arts while exploring real-world issues like policing, legal advocacy, corrections, and public policy. Through our joint degree partnership with John Jay College of Criminal Justice, you can seamlessly transfer to complete your bachelor’s degree after earning your A.A. at BMCC.

The CUNY Justice Academy

By majoring in Criminal Justice at BMCC, you are automatically part of the CUNY Justice Academy (CJA) and receive dual admission into the corresponding B.A. program at John Jay College. When you successfully complete the first 60 credits and meet your community college requirements, you not only receive an associate degree, but you are also rewarded with the option of guaranteed admission to John Jay where you will be on track to complete your bachelor’s degree.
